Root Canal Treatment

Contrary to popular belief, root canal treatment undertaken at our Melbourne dental clinic should not cause any more discomfort than that of a regular filling

Traditionally if the nerve tissue of a tooth became infected the whole tooth would have to be extracted, but with root canal treatment your natural tooth can be saved.

This treatment (also referred to endodontics) is used to treat the inner pulp (or nerve tissue) of a tooth if it has become infected, which can be caused by a range of factors including:

  • Decay deep within the tooth structure
  • A large filling irritating the pulp
  • A physical impact on the tooth
  • Severe periodontal disease

If the infected nerve tissue is not treated, this can lead to bone disease and tooth loss
